    DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

    I’M WEARING;

    BLAZER: RIVER ISLAND   TOP: ASOS   JEANS: NEWLOOK   NECKLACE: LIARS & LOVERS   SUNGLASSES: CELINE   BRACELET: VALENTINO   SHOES: MISSGUIDED   BAG: BALENCIAGA
    Everyone goes through a personal journey with their style choices and I myself have made some cringe worthy choices of my own. Whether it’s a midi bandeau dress, tights and short Ugg boots (yes that really did happen) or a pair of what were once skinny jeans that turned baggy on the knees with a pair of black, pink and leopard print reflective Nike trainers. They were cool for the gym, but not to wear out and about with an actual ‘outfit’, if you could even call it that. Fingers crossed there won’t be anymore outfit horrors, but I take solace in thinking that things have to get worse before they can get better and my outfit choices most definitely are a testament to that. Nowadays, I stick to the absolute basics and just incorporate trends into my personal style, as there’s very little room for error or any rooky outfit choices.

    A pivotal point in my style evolution was when I realised that you don’t have to have one kind of look. I used to think that I wanted to have variations of one classic look. I wanted to look formal and well put together all the time and then I realised that as much as I do love dressing as a hybrid between formal and casual, that it’s just not realistic for me. I’m a university student and sitting in a lecture or seminar in a tight fitted outfit, would just irritate me and I’d stick out like a sore thumb. On a day-to-day when I’m at university in a lecture or spending hours on end in the library, I’m very much a jumper, jeans and trainers girl and there’s nothing wrong with that, as there will be occasions and events where I can channel my inner Victoria Beckham. You don’t need to be dolled to the nines just to pop to the local shop.

    Over the past few years, I’ve really started to get more into fashion and investing in pieces that will really elevate my outfits. I’m very much a mix-match kind of girl. I love mixing high street with high end as I don’t think you have to splurge in every aspect of fashion, you can save on items such as jeans and basics, because as long as the fit is right and it has good quality, it doesn’t matter that it’s not the most expensive item on the rack. My personal favourite area to invest in is accessories. I personally love a good luxury bag, small leather good or pair of sunglasses.
